Innovation Showcase

Every year we hold an Innovation Showcase as part of the EIC to be held in parallel and after the panels and speakers. The showcase highlights early-stage companies in the energy sector and provides a platform for those companies to engage with conference attendees. This allows an excellent place for new companies to promote their businesses with key players in the industry and allows for energy professionals to keep up-to-date on the latest relevant technologies gaining a foothold. 

Designed to highlight early-stage companies in the energy sector and provide a platform for those companies to engage with conference attendees. This year companies represented are from the Southern California region and beyond and span the software, electric vehicles, industrial, and consumer goods spaces.


NEXT Energy Technologies, Inc.(NEXT) is the ‘Intel Inside’ for the architectural glass industry. NEXT is developing game-changing transparent photovoltaic glass that allows architects and building owners to transform windows and glass facades into producers of low-cost, on-site, renewable energy without compromising on the aesthetics of the building.

Nearly 40% of global energy consumption and attendant GHGs are associated with buildings, and energy represents the single largest variable operating expense for commercial buildings. Regulatory regimes are driving toward net zero energy buildings, and the commercial building industry is hungry for seamless, cost-effective solutions for getting to net zero. No other technology can deliver the transparency, aesthetics, cost, ease of integration, and performance attributes of the transparent photovoltaic windows NEXT has developed.

NEXT’s technology is enabled by proprietary organic semiconducting coatings that are earth-abundant, low-cost, and non-toxic, and are printed in a high-speed, low-cost, low-energy process. With our breakthrough materials, windows now have the potential to become a new market for onsite solar power for buildings. This is something that has never been possible before, revealing a huge new market we can own.


It all began in 2014 when a handful of innovators from Tesla, SpaceX, Amazon, and Samsung set out to end energy poverty around the world. And Romeo Power was born. With deep tribal knowledge from the design, development, and deployment of the most powerful and sophisticated battery packs on the planet, they assembled a team of leading engineers and industrial designers to take energy technology beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.


ZON was founded in 2012 with the goal of utilizing solar energy to charge mobile devices, as fast as a wall outlet, day and night.  The first product, Powersol, has received accolades for innovation and design in nearly every industry.

Powersol is a solar powered mobile device charging station integrated into a high end commercial umbrella and can be found at hundreds of universities, malls, business parks and more.  It has been cited that by 2030 10% of all global energy consumption will come from charging mobile devices and laptops. ZON’s revolutionary technology can put a significant dent in that number using clean solar energy to keep devices charged up in the venues where people want to be.
